Abhyanga means ‘oil massage’ in India. It is defined as a ritual of pouring aromatic/herb infused oil over a person’s head or the entire body.  According to Ayurveda, oil massaging plays a vital part in one’s longevity and wellness. Abhyanga helps to remove any imbalances (body and mind toxins) that have arisen from mental and physical stresses in this modern world while purifying and rejuvenating.

Pada Abhyanga is the Ayurvedic foot massage. This is the ultimate foot indulgence! Tiredness, aches and pains are dispelled, leaving your feet feeling blissfully light and refreshed.

Your feet are dipped in a coconut milk based foot bath that is warm and soothing. The coconut milk mixture includes coconut milk, honey and fresh/dried petals such as rose, lavender or jasmine depending on the seasonal availability. Then, a coconut sugar leg scrub is followed that exfoliates your legs and feet removing all those dry/dead skin, leaving your skin super soft and smooth.

Next, we will do a luxurious lower leg and foot massage that will actually soothe away those tired feet. This massage stimulates the circulation of blood and lymph flow. Being a tri-doshic massage, it is suitable for people with any dosha predominance whether they are Vata, Pitta or Kapha.

Ayurveda has a special technique using a ‘Kansu’ bowl that contains three metals: copper, bronze and zinc, which work in harmony with their own separate therapeutic benefits.

Copper: Absorbs excess body heat and is known for its anti-inflammatory properties that help with joints.

Zinc: Stimulates the muscular tissue and known for its antiseptic properties.

Bronze: Acts as a catalyst for copper and zinc.

This massage can assist deeper sleep, reduce stress, depression and anxiety.
